Went to Rouge after my evening lesson cos my sista got invites for their new band night - which featured John Molina & his Kruegers. I just been there like a month or so ago cos moi fren had her bday party there.
However I found that in line with the 'makeover' gone were the lounge area's posh red velvet curtains and the chinois look; to be replaced by dangling orange hoops and bands on a string trying to create (I'm guessing) a loose psychedelic 70s feel. They brightened up the place a bit but the dance area next door was darker with house and strobe lights to give that gig feel to things.
Didn't really work out if you ask me. I quite loved the chic look of the lounge area... Now it's just ur run-of-the-mill wood-laden club. And the dancefloor side doesnt suit the whole gig set-up cos it feels so empty (could be because the crowd wasn't too great too) and the look just didn't jive. They gotta do more to get up there with Thumper's set-up which brings together the rnb/commerical music interpsersed with the band concept nicely.
Hell even the Kruegers need to ups their levels mans. Cos it was quite dead at times. Esp when they let their lead guitarist sing. Twas horrible. He shd stick to being lead guitar.... But all in all I had fun cos of good company (which is always impt) plus I needed the nite out la. Fasting month means only fun (if any) at nite. Hee. And I didn't actually say that btw :p
