Just back from the wedding dinner of Yixuan & Tse Han at Amara Sanctuary that we were intended to attend. Yixuan sends her regards and asked how u were. I had told her u were hospitalised (without goin to detail) and was still recovering, hence couldn't come. She and husband hope u're better and wish u speedy recovery.
Anyways twas a good night catching up with my welfare dept (which I was HOD in RJC Students Council). At my dept table was Jiawen & her husband - Kevin (my bro from sec sch days), Richard and his wife Caroline, Boon Hong, Shubin, Adeline (sans husband Josh who stayed at home) and Ben Yip and his gf, See Yunn. Ben's now at NUH and will be there for the next 5-6 months. Twas lively banter as there always is and the food was amazingly good (i diss wedding food all the time), you'd have liked it. There was a student council table next to us where the rest of our RJC mates were but didn't talk to them much. I gave Richard and Caroline a lift back to their place at Depot Rd and headed home, tired but happy to catch up with old friends.
I need flashback to friday cos it was quite an interesting day going to Mandai Hill Camp for reservist. First time in 8 years I wore the uniform and twas good to know I still fit into the pants and shirt. lol. But had to get the 2-bar epulette from my friend Chee Wei cos I couldn't find my rank! Good thing he could spare me his. He lives in Tiong Bahru so dropped by his place to pick them up. Chee Wei was the buddy I visited in London when I went there last year. He had been on a 7 month posting in London with consultancy firm Baines.
Anyways the morning was a brief to just the commanders on the in-camp training to be held 20-25 July at Jurong Camp after the usual words from CO and S3. Thereafter was breakout to company level for discussions on SOPs and that's when I found out from OC, Najib that I was to become Company 2IC! *shock* Anyways lots of meetings for this post so guess that's why he slotted me in, cos I'm a dinosaur compared to the rest of the PCs! Haha. Twas good to meet my company officers and specs and as the day progressed, I actually enjoyed being back in the place. Abit like catching with old friends, just ones u never had! But similar or same experiences so twas good.
Afternoon was IPPT training in Khatib Camp and I met Najib's dad who helped to bring bananas bought from the wholesale market for the unit to have at the end of the day. Reminded me alot of your dad. Wise-looking and possibly stern tho he was nice to me. Got on quite well with Brian, a PC from my company, and Najib so hopefully things go well at in-camp. I've definitely got to get up-to-date with alot of weapons tho!
Finished off about 8 and went to buy food for dinner for mum & I. Had to make a pit-stop at work first though cos of this SQA (that SCDF apparently got in 2007!) that we have to prepare cos assessment is in July and we have to prepare FAQs by friday and mug it all next week... on top of our usual work! Bought BK from Holland Village while illegally parked and headed home to have dinner with mum. Did yesterday's post after dinner, then settled to some tv and slept.
Woke up pretty early for a saturday cos I couldn't sleep anymore, so I went to get breakfast for mum. Bought mee siam and mee rebus for her from adams and ran some errands at the bank and groceries. Settled down to my roti prata and teh tarik and did a CSI marathon till mum woke up and joined me at the tv.
Tidied up my room and did some work then drove mum to Tampines abt 1plus to get this rojak that she has been wanting to eat on Uncle Ismet's recommendation. After numerous calls to him for directions, we got it and I drove happy mum back home, via balestier to get chinese rojak & sugar cane, to enjoy the mamak delight while watchin boston legal.
Maid came while we were watching tv and started on the mountain of clothes for ironing.
In the middle of tv, my friend Pamela Samathivathanacai called. She had msged me that she was back from the US after going to Hawaii with her fiancee Brandon (who's really funny). Pam's my Eusoff Hall mate and I had visited Pam and Brandon in NYC last year. She shared that she was still looking for their wedding location but it would probably be some beach in thailand and she was leaving for bangkok this comin week to go have a looksee abt it and visit her grandparents in bkk. She discussed a catch-up but I told her that its better when she's back from thailand mid next month. I shared with her about you and that it's better we'd meet when you would perhaps be able to come along as you were not free cos of work this month. She understood but needled me about you and said she'd buzz me when she got back in mid-July. We spoke for a bit to catch up and then I went back to the tv with mum, who had fallen asleep in the nice fan breeze on this warm late afternoon.
The maid was still ironing (she had been from 330!) and continued till I had to leave for the wedding at 6pm. What a backlog of ironing! (3 weeks she hadn't come) She only got to cleaning after I'd left. Anyways left and went to pick up Richard and Caroline on the way to the Wedding in Sentosa. And that brings us a full circle!
Adieu.
