I woke up today to find out pop was dead. Well the king of pop to be exact. The gloved one who had given me and my generation hit after hit during the roaring 80s and a good part of the 90s had passed on after a heart attack. To me, he will always be one of The icons of my childhood. From that awesome thriller video that started the mega music video trend in MTV to the crazy antics in Beat to real gangster leather in Bad to the maucalay culkin giant speaker scene with that cool face-morphing technology in Black or White to that movie he did called Moonwalker , I could go on and on. And how can one forget the uber cool Billie Jean, which song still makes my wanna groove no matter what age I've been and I'm sure still will long into my old age. He's always made the headlines and here's to one last "OWWWW" cos you don't stop till you get enough, and it's time for the tabloids to stop hounding him. To anyone born in the 70s and 80s, he will always be remembered.
Long Live the King.
As has been the pattern at work this week, the day was chock full of meetings starting with an early one with my boss and this international epigenetic consortium that we were part of. That was a long one that stretched to lunch, at which time we headed, on my suggestion, to the chinese-muslim chicken rice at clementi near the mosue (vested interest of cos. hehe). Good but quick lunch before zipping off to friday prayers and I was amused to find they had redone the carpeting since the last time I was there a month ago. Wiry, weird-feeling carpet unfortunately. If it ain't broke, they shouldn't have fixed it... Anyways the other weird thing was hearing a medical lecture during the sermon, but just goes to show how far-reaching the effects of H1N1 have gone. And like my colleagues pointed out when I was gonna head to the mosue, this was one of the likeliest ways of getting a cluster case! Every friday!
Hopped on the bus back to the office via a transfer at buona vista and plunged right back into another meeting. Gah. Met one of my batch lawyers who is now at Singhealth as legal counsel and congratulated her on her recent wedding to another fellow lawyer John Yeo, who was my hockey team-mate in school. After the meeting, there was another internal pow-wow with my boss and some of our commercial people so by the time I could actually do some work, it was practically knock-off time.
Tat called me from the airport before he flew off which was nice. Wished him a fun but safe trip. Also spoke to Nai (we had arranged on the cab back last night that I'd head to hers with her after her gym session at the top floor of my office bldg) and headed off about 7.
Got home in time to catch the little guy's bath time and after some splish splash splosh, twas time to put him to bed while the 'old folks' camped in front of the tv. Dinner prepared by the maid is smelling good so time to makan and I'm all set to chill.
Pity about the work to be done at the weekend. Well not like I'm doing much since my significant other is quarantined anyways.
Auf wiedersehn!
